About Freediving Guide

Freediving Guide exists because most freediving gear content online is either written by people who've never been in the water, or structured entirely around affiliate commission rather than useful information. This site tries to do it differently.

Marcus Webb

Freediving Researcher and Editor

Marcus Webb researches and edits the training and gear guides on Freediving Guides. The guidance here is research based rather than a record of personal dives: it draws on the published standards and course materials of AIDA, SSI, PADI and Molchanovs, on freediving and diving-medicine literature, and on manufacturer specifications. Gear recommendations compare published specs, design intent and the consensus reported by instructors and divers, and are not first-hand product tests. Safety guidance follows the training agencies rather than personal opinion, and no brand pays for coverage or placement.

What this site covers

Gear reviews and buying guides for freediving equipment - fins, masks, wetsuits, watches, and weight systems. Training guides covering breath-hold technique, equalization, and pool training. Safety resources. Beginner guides. Course and certification information.

What this site does not do

We do not publish depth progression plans or training targets for divers we have not worked with in person. We do not provide medical advice. We do not fake hands-on testing. We do not give safe-sounding advice about diving practices that are actually dangerous.

Affiliate disclosure

Product pages contain affiliate links to Amazon and occasionally other retailers. If you buy through a link, we earn a small commission - it doesn't change your price. It also doesn't change our recommendations. The full disclosure policy is here.
