Safety Disclaimer

General disclaimer

Content published on Freediving Guide is intended for general informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes professional freediving instruction, medical advice, or a substitute for in-person training with a certified instructor.

Freediving risk

Freediving carries inherent physical risks including, but not limited to: shallow water blackout, hypoxic blackout, lung squeeze, barotrauma, decompression illness (in repetitive deep diving), and drowning. These risks cannot be eliminated - they can only be managed through proper training, responsible behavior, and buddy diving.

Never dive alone

The single most important rule in freediving: never dive without a trained buddy present and watching. Shallow water blackout occurs without warning and is survivable only if someone is in position to respond immediately. Guides, gear, or techniques described on this site do not change this rule.

Seek certified instruction

Before attempting breath-hold diving beyond snorkeling depth, complete a course with a certified instructor from PADI, AIDA, FII, or a recognized equivalent. Online content - including this site - cannot replace proper in-person training for equalization, rescue, and safe depth progression.

Medical clearance

Consult a physician before freediving if you have any history of: asthma, lung conditions, cardiac conditions, ear or sinus problems, or any other condition that may affect breath-hold capacity or pressure equalization. Freediving is contraindicated for some medical conditions.

Training advice limitations

Training routines and breath-hold tables described on this site are for general educational purposes. Individual responses to breath-hold training vary significantly. Progress should be supervised by a qualified instructor, not based solely on published progressions.

Depth and record claims

Depth records described on this site are sourced from publicly available information and are subject to change. Do not attempt to replicate record-depth dives. World-record depth attempts involve years of structured training, medical monitoring, and professional safety support.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Freediving Guide and its authors accept no liability for any injury, death, or damage arising from the use of information published on this site.
