How We Review Gear
Our editorial methodology - straightforward and unchanged since launch.
Only gear with real in-water use
The gear recommended on this site has been used in actual diving conditions - not a single pool session or unboxing review. When a product has not been personally used, that is stated clearly in the guide. We don't fabricate hands-on experience.
No payment for positive placement
We do not accept sponsored placements, paid reviews, or free gear in exchange for coverage. If a manufacturer sends something for review, that is disclosed. Our recommendations are not for sale.
Affiliate links follow editorial decisions
Product selection happens first. Affiliate links are added after. The Amazon tag (deepdiving01-20) is the same across all products - we don't earn more for recommending one product over another.
Specs verified against manufacturer data
Weight, volume, material, and compatibility specs are verified against manufacturer specifications and cross-referenced with user reports where available. Errors are corrected promptly.
Safety caveats on relevant content
Depth, breath-hold training, and technique guides include safety context. We do not downplay risk to keep content approachable. Safe freediving and honest information are the same goal.
Buying guides updated when gear changes
Product lines change, models get discontinued, and prices shift. Guides are reviewed and updated when we identify outdated information. The last-verified date is visible on each page.
