Overview
Women's freediving wetsuits solve a real fit problem. Generic or men's suits often bind at the hips, bag at the shoulders, or both - which restricts duck dives, arm streamlining, and general comfort over a long session.
A well-fitted women's suit makes a tangible difference: better arm mobility for the overhead streamline on duck dive entry, better chest fit that doesn't restrict breathing preparation, and a seal that doesn't flush cold water on every twist.
What to Look For
- Anatomical women's cut
- The essential feature. Check that the suit is specifically cut for women's proportions, not just a men's suit with different colors.
- Two-piece design at 5mm+
- At warmer temperatures a one-piece is fine. In cooler water (below 22 C), the two-piece jacket-and-pants design provides the core warmth advantage of doubled neoprene at the torso, plus the hood integration that eliminates the neck gap.
- Open-cell interior for 5mm and up
- At 3mm in warm water, closed-cell is manageable. At 5mm in 20 C water, open-cell's thermal advantage is worth the extra care required.
- Flexibility at the shoulder
- Duck dives require arms to reach fully overhead. Try that range of motion when evaluating fit. A suit that binds at the shoulder will limit entry technique significantly.
Water Temperature and Thickness
Short version: 3mm for 22-28 C, 5mm for 18-24 C, 7mm below 18 C. For full thickness guidance: Freediving Wetsuit Thickness Guide.

Cressi

Cressi's women's-specific freediving wetsuit fits well through chest and hips with an anatomical cut that unisex suits miss. 3mm closed-cell neoprene covers most warm-water recreational diving. The two-piece design (jacket + pants) provides additional core warmth from the double-layer overlap. Good quality for the price.

SEAC Body Fit Women's Wetsuit (5mm)
SEAC
~$200
- Material
- Open-cell neoprene
- Thickness
- 5mm
- Style
- Two-piece
- Best for
- 18-24°C water
SEAC's women's freediving suit uses open-cell neoprene on the inside for better thermal performance at 5mm. Well-shaped across the shoulders and chest. The open-cell interior is warmer than Cressi's closed-cell at the same thickness, which matters in cooler water where you spend more time diving.
- Open-cell interior - significantly warmer than closed-cell
- Good shoulder articulation for duck dives
- Women's cut fits most body types well
- 5mm covers cooler water diving
- Open-cell requires care - tears more easily
- Needs lubrication to put on
- Higher price
